Pallas begins collaboration with sensor company Alerto
With the new collaboration, Pallas expands the possibilities for security-creating solutions with the first example of the new Open Platform strategy.
Pallas is proud to introduce Alerto as a new partner. Alerto works with sensor technology that makes work in elderly care easier for employees and everyday life safer for residents.
The motion sensors collect data about the citizen in a completely new way, which gives the care staff more knowledge to work from, while also functioning as an emergency call if the citizen, for example, falls in the bathroom and cannot get up again without having their emergency call button on them. If none of the sensors have seen the citizen move for, for example, three hours, Alerto will send a message to their nationwide and 24-hour guard center, which is also approved by the National Police.

Sensors contribute relevant observations
Alerto's motion sensors are wireless with their own battery (two-year shelf life) and are easily mounted on a wall or panel in the resident's home or in the resident's living room in a nursing home. Four sensors are placed in the home, one in the living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. There they will register the resident's movements and thus give the nursing staff more observations to work from when they are not physically present. This can be in relation to night sleep or frequency of toilet visits, and can be for vulnerable elderly residents or for patients who are on their way in or out of a course of treatment at the hospital. The sensors are easy to set up and take down, so they can be moved from one resident to another without any problems.
In the home, four of Alerto's motion sensors are placed in the bedroom, living room, bathroom and kitchen.
The observations are automatically integrated into the Smart Center's Early Detection by Alerto's sensors collecting data about the citizen, after which the data undergoes statistical analyses that show changes in the citizen over time. In addition, there are individual observations, such as the citizen having been up several times during the night. If the analyses show irregularities, the care staff will be able to see it in the Smart Center.
Examples of observations are:
- abnormal sleep patterns
- changed activity level
- change in social activity
- change in typical number of toilet visits
With the specific information, the staff will receive a supplement to their own observations, which will contribute important knowledge so that they can carry out their work based on as many relevant observations as possible.

Real experiences led to the idea of sensors

Alerto is a company started by Jørgen and Lasse Holm, who are father and son. The idea for Alerto came from Jørgen's experiences as a doctor, where in his practice he has seen many fates that could have ended differently if they had had the technology available.
But Jørgen also had an experience in the family that put things into perspective: “My uncle was alone in his home and fell, where he lay for 30 hours with a broken hip before he was found. It really made me think about how much our homes can do today, for example controlling the temperature. So why shouldn't homes also help protect us who live in them?”
And in fact, Alerto has already experienced that citizens with the sensors installed in their homes feel safer, explains Lasse Holm: “We have heard from some elderly people on Ærø who have our sensor emergency call set up that they have experienced that they have become safer because they know that help will come if they fall and cannot get up. That is why they have also started to dare to clean again and have generally become more active, because they know that Alerto will send a message for help, even if they do not have the emergency call button nearby. One had even asked for fewer hours from home care. It is healthy and provides a higher quality of life.”
Collaboration is first example of new Open Platform strategy
Pallas could immediately see the relevance of offering the municipalities Alerto's technology integrated into the Smart Center, says Peter Biltsted, CEO at Pallas: "We are already known for creating user-friendly reporting solutions (e.g. Roskildehulet) and presenting data in a relevant form for the staff, as well as integrating with the care systems. So the collaboration with Alerto is for us an obvious strengthening of our current offering."

The collaboration with Alerto is the first example of our new strategy, where we want to make Smart Center an open platform for all the good ideas and solutions that home and elderly care are interested in.
